Is Love a Losing Game!!??

So where do I begin *channeling inner Carrie Bradshaw*....Dating as a 30 something gay man can really be the pits.
After all the mental and physical hard work you've done in your 20s you can now reap the benefits.
So one would say dating is easy right!?? HA!! think again....My story or should I say RANT begins here...

There are multiple factors that play a major part in this to the point where it has me thinking what is wrong with me?

Growing up gay I didn't have a lot of role models that can show me what it is to be gay or how to survive this gay lifestyle. So you go through life figuring out yourself and start to be secure with the person you become(ing), but once you're there mentally you want a companion to share it with.

So you chose to dip your toe into the dating pool and take a chance to see what comes from it.

You can explore the gay nightlife with the hopes to find someone to date but it ends up being a casual hook up that ends the next morning. Or you could go on the dating apps and get disappointed on a different level. Because if your pics aren't cute enough (thanks to bad lighting) no one will look at your profile or you run into the whole masculine and feminine thing. Basically meaning you have to exude hella masculine traits or uber feminine traits that can be seen on your profile and that will determine if you're a chosen one. What about us men who fall in between the masc or fem realm? But lets not talk about the whole top, bottom and verse thing. There's never enough tops, too many bottoms or being verse you get told that you're a bottom in disguise (RUDE).

Being 30ish you are now at that pivotal part of life where you want to be as open as the younger gays but ready to settle down like the older gays who have come before you. So this is where I start to second guess myself....Mentally I am mature and still love to have fun, but am I too confident? Am I not damaged enough to be taken care of? Is my aura intimidating? The insecurities I hide showing?

These are questions I ask myself daily and I wish I knew the answer to why is it so hard to date?

So in all actuality this wasn't just a rant is was me getting something off my chest and now I feel better!!!!

 Slay the day away,

Jay

The Holiday's Are Here!!!!!!!

So the holidays are around the corner and I know you're asking yourself what to wear!!??

Well your in luck I am here to give you my ideas of what I believe are great looks for the holidays.

Thanksgiving fashion is where being more relaxed is key...
For a man a nice cable knit sweater and a nice pair of jeans paired with a nice cognac color monk strap shoe.

For a woman I can see her in a sweater dress with some over the knee boots.

When it comes to Christmas this is the time to amp up the glitz and glam. The fabrication and silhouette can give you the option to make bold choices.

For women I say try velvet in a jewel tone and pair it with something a bit understated to stand out. And top it off with a bold lip!!

As a man a nice button up and a blazer, but with the blazer choose one in a non-traditional color.

So there are some of my ideas for holiday fashion. Most importantly have fun and enjoy the holidays  with the people you love and adore!!

With love,
Jay

Mixing Prints

Fashion is suppose to be fun right!?
So whats more fun than mixing prints!!!
Mixing prints can be difficult, but in retrospect it's rather easy to achieve.
With these tips you can be a pro before you know it!!

1. First thing to remember leopard plays as a neutral so it can be a great base to build off of.

2. Start with a monochromatic print
3. The key is to match colors and not print; pick a common color or colors and choose your prints accordingly.

4. One final key is don't forget to mix print size. Close stripes goes great with large floral or polka dots. Or double up on the same print just in a different size.

STYLE ICON

Solange Knowles is known for taking fashion risks daily, but I feel she excels at mixing prints. Her retro urban boho style (it's a thing I said it) can be seen in every look she chooses. The way she mixes geometric prints with vintage styling is effortless. If you ever needed an example of mixing prints she's your girl!! #SpiritualAnimal

Thanks guys!!

Festival Ready!!

Summer is around the corner right!?....Well anyway when you think of Summer you think of not only sunshine and the beach but most importantly music festivals!!

Being as though there are sooooooooo many festivals to go to you ask yourself what to wear?

So when I think of a dressing for such events I think to be cute but functional.
Here are some things to think about when putting those outfits together....

1) Denim I say is always a good staple for outdoor festivities even if it's a nice distressed jean, overalls, or cut off shorts. The possibilities are endless.

2) Also for choosing the right pieces for your look you definitely want to pick lighter weight fabrics cause you'll be outside in the sun and staying cool is key!!

3) A good pair of shoes so you can dance and be in all day comfort is a must!!

4) Brighter colors they help reflect the sun instead of absorb it like darker colors

5) The most important item is sunglasses not only do they add to your look but guess what!? they protect your eyes from the harmful rays coming from the sun.

The best tip I can give is the most important one...HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!

Owning Who You Are

Hey all!! So my question is what does your personal style say about you!?

When it comes to style I believe it's all about what makes you feel good; what makes you feel confident with yourself.

As for myself I believe I can adapt to different styles depending on what I'm feeling that day, but there are a lot of street wear inspired pieces which I incorporate as much as I can for each look.

I pride myself on being an individual and doing this by my rules!!
